How Planacy Improved the Municipality's Budgeting Process

Before implementing Planacy, Landskrona Stad (Landskrona municipality) used the budgeting and forecasting module Planner, which is part of Unit4/UBW (formerly Agresso). It was a solution that was no longer being developed, which created limitations both in terms of user experience and the ability to adapt the tool to new needs.

"Planacy is a very user-friendly system to work in. It has streamlined our budgeting process, especially compared to our previous solution, which was quite time-consuming and sluggish to manage," says Jonas Stridh, Business Controller at the Finance Department at Landskrona Stad.

In addition to the performance issues with the previous solution, there was an overall need to streamline the budgeting process. Since the municipality was already using a budgeting and forecasting tool, both the implementation and the learning curve with Planacy were significantly shorter. The goal of the transition wasn’t to completely change the way they worked – but to optimise and further improve the processes. Among other things, Landskrona has integrated Planacy with its existing decision support system, Qlik Sense, to create a smoother and more seamless experience.

”The administration has become easier. We’ve streamlined our process by removing a step where we previously used Excel, and that has made a big difference. Planacy is flexible enough to allow us to continue developing our work in the direction we want,” explains Jonas.

According to Landskrona Stad, one of the greatest advantages of Planacy is its flexibility. The tool can be further developed as the organisation’s needs evolve – something that became evident already during the implementation phase. This is especially important since the target group for the budgeting work often includes managers and school principals, people who don’t work with finance on a daily basis.

”The greatest benefit we see with Planacy is that the interface is very easy to work in. It’s clear what’s what – investment budget, personnel budget, operating budget, and so on. That makes administration much easier, both for us centrally and for the departments,” Jonas concludes.
